2026-2027 Itinerant RN @ Health Services Internal employees: Set to your account to internal before applying at https://aisd.schoolspring.com/internaljobsettings Primary Purpose: Assist school nurses to improve their clinical knowledge and skills. Train and mentor new health services staff. Offer technical assistance, provide ongoing support to campus nurses, and provide coverage for campuses when the campus nurse is absent. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Valid registered nurse (RN) or advance practice RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/AED. Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to implement policies and procedures Knowledge of school health and nursing administration Knowledge of community medical and healthcare services Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three-Five (3-5) years of experience in public health nursing, community agency, hospital out-patient clinic or pediatrics. Three (3) years of experience in school nursing Major Responsibilities and Duties: Services Adhere to the performance responsibilities of the campus registered nurse when substituting in the clinic. Conduct initial assessment of students with health impairments in the absence of a campus registered nurse. Assist campuses with clinic processes and procedures as needed. Act as a liaison/resource/consultant to assigned schools. Instruction Participate in the development of curriculum materials for new nurses and clinic aides. Deliver training to new nurses and clinic aides. Provide ongoing training for experienced nursing staff. Provide CPR/AED training. Provide campus procedures and processes training each year including response to health emergencies and crises. Consultation Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Health Services Coordinator for program planning and problem-solving Act as Liaison between campuses and district Health Services Coordinator (i.e. health issues, accidents, reportable conditions, safety issues, etc.). Administration In collaboration with the Health Services Coordinator, evaluate the effectiveness of health programs and services and make changes based on findings. Assist the Health Services Coordinator in auditing campus compliance and clinic safety. Report potential health and safety hazards to the Health Services Coordinator. Professional Development Maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge as required by the Texas Nurse Practice Act and the Texas Board of Nursing including certification for mandated screenings and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (CPR/AED). Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Depending on the facility, you may also handle admissions paperwork, manage wound care, supervise medication techs, and respond to emergencies.
