Houston Senior Living Guide (houstonseniorlivingguide.com) is an independent directory that helps Houston-area families find assisted living, memory care, residential care homes, and nursing facilities. We are based in Houston, Texas and operate independently — we are not affiliated with any facility or placement agency.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and when we share it. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to connect you with senior care options in Houston.

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, phone number, and email address — when you submit a tour request, contact form, or AI chat lead form
  • Preferred care type and location (e.g., "Memory Care in Katy") — when you use our search or AI assistant
  • Tour review submissions — facility name, visit date, ratings, and comments
  • Operator information — if you claim a facility listing (business name, NAP details, billing information processed by Stripe)

Information collected automatically:

  • ZIP code or approximate location — when you use our ZIP search or permit browser location access for the AI chat lead form
  • AI chat conversation summaries — when you use the Find Care AI Assistant, a summary of your conversation may be stored to provide context and improve the service
  • Usage data — via Google Analytics (page views, session duration, referral source — aggregate and anonymized)
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, processed by Cloudflare as part of hosting and security services

3. AI Chat Assistant

Our Find Care page includes an AI-powered chat assistant to help answer questions about senior care options in Houston. When you interact with the chat:

  • Your questions and a summary of the conversation may be stored in our database to improve service quality and to provide context to senior care specialists if you request follow-up contact
  • Conversations are processed by Perplexity AI (our AI provider) — see their privacy policy for details
  • Do not share sensitive health information (diagnoses, medications, insurance details) or financial account information in the chat. Use phone or email for private inquiries
  • The chat assistant does not make placement recommendations or medical determinations. Always consult licensed professionals for medical, legal, and financial decisions

If you submit the specialist contact form within the chat, your name and phone number are stored and may be shared with verified member facilities in your area of interest as described in Section 4 below.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Respond to your tour inquiries and connect you with relevant facilities
  • Pass your contact information to senior care facilities when you request specialist follow-up
  • Publish and moderate tour reviews you submit
  • Improve the AI chat assistant and site functionality
  • Send confirmation or status emails related to your inquiry (not marketing)
  • Comply with applicable law and protect against fraudulent or unlawful activity

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or third-party marketing companies.

5. Sharing With Facility Partners

When you submit a tour request for a specific facility, or when you request specialist contact through our AI chat assistant, your name and phone number may be shared with senior care facilities on our platform in your area of interest. These facilities use your information solely to follow up on your inquiry.

Categories of third parties we may share your information with:

  • Assisted living communities in the Greater Houston area
  • Memory care facilities in our service area
  • Nursing homes and residential care homes listed on our site

Only verified member facilities on our platform may receive leads. These facilities are responsible for their own privacy practices when they contact you.

We do not sell your personal information. Sharing for the purposes above is not considered a "sale" under applicable Texas law (TDPSA).

To opt out of facility sharing: Do not submit an inquiry through our forms, or email support@houstonseniorlivingguide.com to request removal of your information.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and security. Acts as a data processor under a Data Processing Addendum. Does not sell personal data.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate site usage analytics. Data is anonymized. You may opt out via browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
  • Perplexity AI — powers our AI chat assistant. Conversation data is processed per Perplexity's privacy policy.
  • Stripe — payment processing for facility memberships. We do not store or have access to payment card data. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
  • DataForSEO — source of aggregate Google ratings and review counts displayed on facility pages. Individual review text is not displayed publicly.

7. Data Security

  • Personal data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (encrypted at rest)
  • All site traffic is served over HTTPS
  • Access to our admin dashboard is restricted to authorized administrators
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we never receive or store card numbers

No system is perfectly secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights (Texas TDPSA)

Under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (effective July 1, 2024), Texas residents have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
  • Opt out — opt out of the sharing of your personal data for targeted advertising (we do not conduct targeted advertising)

To exercise any of these rights, email support@houstonseniorlivingguide.com with the subject line "Data Request." We will respond within 45 days.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices change. Material changes will be noted with a revised effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
