LVN Responsibilities Administration and documentation of medications IV and wound skills a plus Providing patient care in accordance with federal, state and local standards Facilitate Care Plans as dictated by patients' medical professionals At times manage the activities of individual caregivers Promote the highest quality care and services to patients in accordance to hospital policies Respect and encourage the confidentiality, independence and dignity of patients. Familiarize with emergency equipment and procedures. Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings. Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, preservation of equipment, and achievement of safe working practices. Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward patients, visitors, families, and co-workers. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures. Performs other LVN duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or state-specific licensed nurse credential Must maintain valid LVN license and active certifications Must be at least 18 years of age Previous experience working with MedSurg, Rehab or Behavioral patients Ability to make choices, decisions and act in the patients’ best interest Ability to react and remain calm in difficult situations Ability to handle multiple priorities Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and level of understanding Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills Minimum of six (6) months experience working within a healthcare facility specializing in MedSurg, Behavioral, or Rehab Decision-making abilities and acting in the patient's best interest, ability to react and remain calm in difficult situations and possessing written and verbal skills for effective communication and level of understanding

Depending on the facility, you may also handle admissions paperwork, manage wound care, supervise medication techs, and respond to emergencies. The documentation load in senior living is significant — state surveys and compliance requirements mean thorough charting is non-negotiable. Many nurses in this setting say the most rewarding part is knowing their residents personally and being able to notice subtle changes that a rotating hospital nurse might miss.
