Job Description

Join Village of River Oaks as a Resident Medication Aide and make a meaningful difference in seniors' lives. We're seeking compassionate, dedicated professionals to provide exceptional care in our Independent and Assisted Living community.

What You'll Do

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring residents' responses closely.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of medication distribution, activities, incidents, and resident condition changes.
  • Assist residents with medications and supervise those who self-administer medications.
  • Provide direct resident care and respond promptly to requests for assistance.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room and count controlled substances.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of prior resident care experience, preferably with seniors.
  • Delegation by a Registered Nurse for medication administration.
  • Excellent communication, customer service skills, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements and strong problem-solving abilities.

The team dynamic is close-knit. You will work alongside other aides, report to the charge nurse, and communicate with families who visit. In memory care units, redirection and engagement activities are a big part of the role — keeping residents calm, oriented, and socially active. The work is physically and emotionally demanding, but many aides describe deep bonds with the residents they care for and a sense of purpose that keeps them in the field long-term.
