Job Description
Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Medical Assistant Certified for our Urology Medical Center. This expert-level position provides high-quality patient care support, performs technical examinations and treatments, and mentors medical assistant staff.
What You'll Do
- Assist with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and dressing changes under physician supervision
- Obtain vital signs, chief complaints, medication reviews, and medical histories; document in electronic medical records
- Perform routine clinical tests including EKG, urinalysis, and rapid strep tests
- Serve as preceptor and clinical resource, training and mentoring medical assistant colleagues
- Coordinate patient care with hospital, emergency department, and community resources as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, homeschool verification, or post-secondary education)
- Five years medical assistant experience with complex, chronic disease management or specialty discipline
- Current certification: CMA through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or RMA; BLS certification required
- Strong English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing for patient and employee safety
- Proficient computer skills, advanced assessment competencies, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
