Description Classification and Pay Hourly Non-Exempt Reports to Director of Rehab Summary/Objective In keeping with our organization’s goals, this position is responsible for evaluating and treating residents as well as communicating with residents and team members. The therapist maintains documentation of services in the medical record and conducts in-services and training for residents and team members on an ongoing basis in restorative techniques. Job Duties Provide occupational therapy and direct patient care as directed Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants or others to carry out plan of care and resident related activities pursuant to state practice act, reimbursement regulations, and all applicable law, rules, and regulations Consistently attend work as scheduled and provide appropriate notice of inability to work consistent with facility policies and as directed Maintain productivity standard as determined by supervisor and clinical needs Demonstrate consistent knowledge of care provided and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations Evaluate residents based upon physician referral/orders Develop effective treatment plans with functional, goal-based outcomes and ensure approval/orders for services from referring physician Treat patients according to treatment plan, care of plan, and as directed by supervisor Record clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines and facility policies and procedures Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines Instruct residents, families, and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs Participate in discharge planning Communicate with supervisor and other team members regarding patient progress, opportunities for improvement, and overall care plan Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as directed Participate in in-service training programs as directed Participate in facility performance improvement programs as directed Coordinate with members of other departments, attending physicians, team members, and other staff at the facility Screen patients based upon identified need Secure necessary adaptive equipment for residents Assist with cleaning maintenance of treatment area and department Demonstrate a positive attitude and team building approach with all residents and team members Report all resident, staff, or other concerns to the appropriate department head Report all incidents, accidents, unsafe situations, and concerns immediately Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations relating to responsibilities Ensure that responsibilities are performed consistent with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations as well as facility policies and procedures Report any problems with department equipment to appropriate personnel so that it is maintained in good working order Supervisory Responsibility There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. Infection control protocols are more rigorous than in hotels or commercial cleaning, especially during flu season or respiratory illness outbreaks.

Maintenance staff handle a daily work order queue — everything from changing light bulbs and fixing call buttons to HVAC maintenance and plumbing repairs. Life-safety equipment checks (fire extinguishers, exit lighting, generator testing) happen on set schedules. Activities professionals plan and lead group programming — exercise classes, crafts, music sessions, outings — and also provide one-on-one engagement for residents who cannot participate in group settings. Social workers manage care conferences, discharge planning, family mediation, and community resource referrals.
