Job Description
Join Houston Methodist as a Charge Registered Nurse II and lead our clinical team with compassion and expertise. This leadership role combines bedside nursing with mentoring, quality improvement, and unit management responsibilities.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct nursing care to diverse patient populations while conducting assessments and maintaining medical records
- Coach and mentor department staff in clinical practice, professional development, and interprofessional communication
- Lead unit governance activities, assess practice improvement opportunities, and coordinate education initiatives
- Model patient and family-centered care standards while driving department service and quality scores
- Oversee shift operations including staff allocation, patient safety, resource utilization, and emergency response
Requirements
- Graduate of approved nursing education program and current RN licensure in Texas
- 24 months of clinical nursing experience with demonstrated progressive leadership skills
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSTROKE certifications (within 4 months); Magnet and NVCRISIS certifications preferred
- Proficient English communication skills, strong assessment and problem-solving abilities, and expertise in electronic medical records
- Ability to work independently, exercise clinical judgment, and function at the Competent to Proficient practice level
