This position leads the facility's infection prevention and control efforts. Monitors infection risks, supports regulatory compliance, educates staff, and collaborates with all departments to promote a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires clinical expertise, adaptability, and the ability to function effectively in a secure and structured environment. Essential Functions: Develops, implements and monitors the facility’s Infection Control Program in accordance with state and federal regulations, and contractual obligation. Serve as subject matter expert for infections diseases, outbreak investigations, surveillance activities, employee health infection prevention initiatives and regulatory compliance. Conduct infection surveillance activities including collecting, analyzing, and reporting infection data to identify trends, outbreaks, healthcare-associated infections, and communicable diseases among patients and staff. Maintain accurate infection control records, logs, and statistical reports. Monitor, investigate, coordinate management of infectious diseases, and ensure timely reporting to regulatory and public health authorities as required. Assist medical providers with implementation of isolation and transmission-based precautions when indicated. Participate in contact investigations and outbreak response activities. Develop and provide infection prevention education for staff. Participate in inspections and regulatory reviews. Participate in facility quality assurance and performance improvement activities. Prepare summary reports and performance metrics for leadership review. Collaborate with healthcare providers, facility administration, security staff, and other stakeholders to support patient care, infection prevention efforts, and a safe and secure healthcare environment. Document patient information, including medical history, symptoms, treatment progress, and other required information in electronic medical records. Monitor patients for changes in condition and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical care in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
