Description Constellation Health Services is seeking a Patient / Family Volunteer for Hospice Constellation Health Services’ Hospice program is looking for volunteers to visit patients who have terminal illnesses. Make a difference in your community, be part of the hospice team, and have a flexible volunteer schedule. A few hours a week can make a big difference to someone nearing the end of life! Patient/Family Volunteer Description: Provide support for patient/family Provide respite for patient caregivers Provide companionship to patients Run errands for patients or caregivers Prepare meals for patients Perform light housekeeping Read to patients, play music, watch videos, listen to music, crafts, talk, quite companionship Requirements: At least 18 years old. Able to commit for one year to our program. Able to commit to at least 4 hours per week. Ability to listen deeply, interest in and compassion for others, good boundaries and self-care, and meet people where they’re at in energy and tone. Online training takes approximately 20 hours and is personally enriching, focusing on personal death awareness and hospice philosophy. No close death in the last year Why Constellation? Maintenance staff handle a daily work order queue — everything from changing light bulbs and fixing call buttons to HVAC maintenance and plumbing repairs. Life-safety equipment checks (fire extinguishers, exit lighting, generator testing) happen on set schedules. Activities professionals plan and lead group programming — exercise classes, crafts, music sessions, outings — and also provide one-on-one engagement for residents who cannot participate in group settings. Social workers manage care conferences, discharge planning, family mediation, and community resource referrals.
